Qimen Golden Needle is native to Qimen County, Anhui Province, especially in core production areas such as Likou Town. It is located in the golden tea production zone at 30° north latitude, with a subtropical monsoon climate, which is warm and humid, with abundant rainfall and sufficient sunshine. The soil is fertile red-yellow soil, providing an ideal condition for the growth of tea trees.

Raw material selection: Usually, the tender buds and leaves of the Qimen Zhuye tea tree variety picked before the Qingming Festival are selected. Most of them are in the state of one bud with one leaf just unfolding. It takes more than 10 tea trees to obtain over 100 tender buds, which can be processed into only 1 gram of dried tea. Thus, the raw materials are extremely precious

Manufacturing Process

Withering

The freshly picked tea leaves are spread out fully to allow the water in the leaves to disperse evenly. This causes the leaves to wilt naturally, getting rid of the grassy smell and increasing their flexibility.

Rolling

A combination of gentle and forceful rolling is applied. First, gentle rolling is carried out, followed by heavy pressure, and then gentle rolling again. This process continues until the tea sap adheres to the surface of the leaves, fully breaking the tea cells.

Fermentation

The fermentation is conducted in a dedicated fermentation chamber. During this process, the tea leaves ferment thoroughly, gradually changing from green to red, developing the unique color, aroma, and taste characteristic of black tea.

Shaping

The iron pot is heated to 70 - 80℃. Professional shapers manually roll and rub the tea leaves into a strip shape, stir - frying them three times repeatedly to shape them into straight, golden needle - like forms.

Drying

The tea is dried using a traditional high - temperature charcoal - firing process, which gives the tea a high - pitched aroma and a mellow taste.

Appearance Characteristics

The tea strips are tightly wound, slender, and delicate, as thin as eyebrows. They are straight like golden needles, evenly shaped and clean. The color is dark and lustrous, with golden hairs clearly visible. The buds and leaves are plump.

Aroma Characteristics

The aroma is rich and complex, combining floral, fruity, and honey - like scents to form the unique "Qimen Aroma". It is reminiscent of flowers, fruits, and honey, being both rich and long - lasting. After brewing, the aroma fills the air, and even the lid and bottom of the cup retain the fragrance.

Taste and Flavor

The tea soup is orange - yellow and clear. It is soft, sweet, and full - bodied, with a fresh, mellow, and profound taste. There is a faint sweet aftertaste, and the bitter base is not obvious. There is a slight astringency, but it is quickly replaced by a sweet, salivating sensation. The throat rhyme is cool and refreshing. Even after multiple infusions, it can still maintain a good taste.

Nutritional Value

It contains various nutrients such as tea polyphenols, amino acids, and caffeine. Tea polyphenols can inhibit cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, delay aging, and accelerate the decomposition and metabolism of excess fat in the human body. Amino acids can promote protein synthesis and repair, and they are also the raw materials for essential enzymes, hormones, and some vitamins in the human body.
